The Future of Nutrition –
End of World Hunger?
Ensuring sustainable food production is one of the most urgent global challenges of our world community. According to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), one in nine people go to bed hungry. Approximately 821 million people are currently affected by hunger worldwide.
This problem may get worse, as growing populations and changing consumer behavior in emerging economies will also increase demand for food products. At the same time, climate change and inefficient use of land are leading to dwindling agricultural areas.
With regard to this urgently needed discussion, K+S and Handelsblatt are shining the spotlight on the important issues related to sustainable food security.
